Registering a divorce by mutual consent

For this type of divorce, the couple needs to register the divorce at the district office where the marriage registration was done or at least at the province where the Thai national lives.

The applicants need to present their marriage certificate, Thai national ID, house registration certificate and passport for both the foreigner. Marriage settlements can also be registered at the local district office at the time of the registration of the divorce.

Court approved settlement

For couples who agree to divorce but have existing issues concerning division of marital assets, child custody, visitation rights, child and spousal support should be settled in court, wherein the judge will decide and enforce a settlement.
